Description
Floatlands and islands Vinkeveen
The islands are remains of a gradially floaded former "legakker"
A legakker, also known as "zetwal", "rib", or "kraag", is a strip of land in the peat area where the peat dredged with a dredging beam was placed to dry out in order to make peat bricks. Usually, the spawning grounds were narrow and long, and surrounded by water or marshy peat soil.
