Green Corridor Hawaiian Islands

Biodiversity

Created at: 31 Aug 2022

Description

This case study is along the stream trail of Waimea, a green corridor will be present along both sides of the Waikoloa stream to connect the nature with the neighbourhood. The people of the space will receive cleaner air and a more diverse ecology while also having a space to walk, cycle and exercise at the same time as enjoying the calming influence of nature. The safety of the space is improved and the interaction between the people using the area also increases. The Green Corridor will also sit in a historically significant space where 40,000 marines went to recuperate after fighting, the green space of the corridor will enhance the space and allow for people to remember in a calming manner. There are also 36 species of shrubs and ground cover native to Hawaii in the space that will also increase biodiversity and the variety of the space.
