Cromwell Gorge Terraces

ENERGY (mitigation)

Created at: 21 Sep 2022

Description

The Cromwell Gorge terraces were added for the construction of the local dam to succeed. The terrace consisted of fifteen large steps on the Cairnmuir Slide with each step being about four meters wide. Each step was constructed by welding together hundreds of rock-filled steel cages to divert surface rain water away from the slide.
