De gemeente Nijmegen heeft als doel overbodige verharding te verwijderen. Dit scheelt in de opwarming in het stedelijke gebied.

Op de website Nijmegen.Mijnwijkplan.nl kunnen inwoners aangeven waar in hun ogen overbodige verharding aanwezig is.

In de lente van 2023 is het werk aangevangen en zijn de groenvakken ingezaaid met gras en kruiden. Wellicht dat in een later stadium toch heesters worden aangeplant.
