The Alta Wind Energy Center, also known as the Mojave Wind Farm, is the third largest onshore wind energy project globally. Southern California Edison has a 25-year power purchase agreement, aiming to reduce over 5.2 million metric tons of CO2 emissions. Het Alta Wind Energy Center, ook bekend als het Mojave Wind Farm, is het op twee na grootste onshore windenergieproject ter wereld. Gelegen in Kern County, Californië, heeft het een gecombineerde capaciteit van 1.550 MW, waardoor het het grootste windmolenpark in de Verenigde Staten is vanaf 2022. Southern California Edison heeft een stroomaankoopovereenkomst voor 25 jaar, met als doel meer dan 5,2 miljoen metrische ton CO2-uitstoot te verminderen. Het project, ontwikkeld door Terra-Gen Power, ontving aanzienlijke financiering en wordt verwacht duizenden banen te genereren en aanzienlijk bij te dragen aan de lokale economie.
