Skutesan, Zuiderburen: in deze wijk is oppervlaktewater uitgebreid (Himpenser Wielen), hierop zijn zeven drijvende woningen gerealiseerd.
In Leeuwarden seven floating homes can be found, as part of ‘Het Blauwe Hart’ project (2006), In order to study the impacts of floating structures on water quality and ecology, an underwater drone equipped with a video camera and sensors was used in this location to collect data. It was possible to measure parameters such as dissolved oxygen, nitrate, ammonium.
